Do / could smoke scented candles hurt my cat?

Growing up as a girl i had (outdoor) dogs and birds. Only lit candles out it could kill our birds. I have not burned a candle and then felt someone bought me a candle for Christmas. (I know it was a time ago.haha) Now I have cats, so it is safe to burn these candles at home, provided they can not touch?

Some candles contain oils that can evaporate and then decide on your cat's skin, where when you licked his next groom themselves. I think to be on the safe side, you should limit the use of burning candles and keep the room well ventilated.
