How can I make a candle chandelier for a dining height, which is durable in hot wax,?

Well, what I want to make a gothic chandelier Design for my project which will look something like this: http://www.shadowzone.dk/images/Giftware/ASS45_web-t.jpg But is made from recycled materials may lead on my own so if something is too hard to get a hold of, I'l buy it. The skull base is probably made of paper mache, I wondered whether a type of heat resistant / damage the protective layer of hot candle wax could be applied. Or if there is a better heat-resistant material that can make the base of skull.

If you do not papier mache then cover the outside with aluminum foil and then use spray paint made for the use of high temperature (as for the grills and stoves, etc.). The combination of the two then it should be suitable for use with a candle.
